Dr. Siham Elsegeiny Principal

Dr. Elsegeiny is a career educator with a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and experience of leading Islamic schools. Being passionate about imparting quality Islamic education to children, Dr. Elsegeiny has worked at various Islamic Schools in the United States for the last 16 years, having served as Principal for the last ten years. Dr. Elsegeiny has led her schools through accreditation, secured funding through grants, implemented a state charter program, and served as a chairperson on a prestigious accreditation commission.


Hiam Alshinnawi Pre-K Teacher

Hiam holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Beirut University and is certified by the Council for Professional Recognition to teach and work with Preschool children. Hiam has over thirteen years of experience working with young children in the public school arena both in the United States and Palestine. Hiam cares about harmonizing the Muslim youth along with transmitting essential Muslim values to her students.

 

Urooj Beg Pre-K Teacher

Urooj started teaching in 1995 as an elementary school teacher in Islamabad, Pakistan. With nine years of experience in the field education, she has held various positions at several private schools such as teacher, head of department, and Assistant Principal. Since 2008, she was working at a local Pre-K. Urooj possesses a Masters degree in Chemistry and a Bachelors degree in Education. Additionally, Urooj is certified to teach in GA. Her passion is to work with Muslim children. She is really excited about joining ILM and is looking forward to a wonderful academic year here!

 

Nida Khan Pre-K Teacher

Nida Khan has more than ten years of teaching experience in Islamic schools and Islamic Sunday schools. She holds an Associates degree from Rutgers University in Middle Eastern Studies. Nida has a track record of making her students improve in their areas of weakness and gain the learning momentum which leads them to excel in their curricular requirements. She has a very precise and pragmatic way of communicating which allows parents to stay closely tuned to the educational progress of their children. Nida joined the ILM Academy team in February 2010 as a subject teacher for 1st Grade and Kindergarten. She is looking forward to another exciting school year at ILM.


Najla Abdul-Khaliq Homeroom Teacher - 3rd Grade

Najla Abdul-Khaliq holds a Bachelor's degree in psychology from Spelman College and a master's/teaching certification in Early Childhood Education (K-5) from Georgia State University. Throughout her educational career, Najla has served in many roles. She taught 4th and 5th grades in Atlanta Public Schools and served as a Mathematics Consultant for the district, offering instructional support to high-needs schools. More recently, she worked in teacher support at Teach For America (TFA) identifying teacher resource needs, managing content experts, and tracking the effectiveness of teacher support methods. Najla enjoys working in diverse settings and is very excited to be a part of the ILM Academy team.

 

Samia Ahmed Homeroom Teacher - 2nd Grade

Samia graduated in August 2009 from North Georgia College & State University with a dual degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. She obtained her Georgia Teaching Certificate in the Spring of 2009, which certifies her to teach Kindergarten through 5th grade. She has completed two years of student teaching: the first year at the advanced environment of Dave's Creek Elementary; the second year at the diverse setting of Amana Academy. Although she started out as a long term substitute teacher at Amana Academy after her graduation, she was assigned to teach first grade. Since her childhood, Samia has always wanted to be a teacher. Her enthusiasm and fascination for working with children have helped her use every opportunity to realize her childhood ambitions. Her experiences and interactions with children help her lead her students effectively in the classroom.

 

Atika Shaikh Homeroom Teacher - 1st Grade

Atika holds two bachelors degrees in Zoology and Education (Math and Science) from Bombay University. Atika’s teaching career began in 1995 as an elementary school teacher in Bombay, India. Atika also taught at Hadeeqat-Al-Atfaal in 2006-2008. Atika enjoys the challenges she faces daily working in a multicultural Muslim environment as well as maintaining her balance between family responsibilities and her active involvement with the Muslim community of the Atlanta area. Atika is an ILM Academy founder.

 

Amani Jabbar Homeroom Teacher - KG

Amani Jabbar has been involved with the field of education since 2002. In the past 8 years, she has served as a tutor, homeschooler and teacher. As a teacher, Amani has worked for Islamic Schools in New Orleans and Atlanta. In New Orleans, she taught English to Grades one through six at the Islamic School of Greater New Orleans. Her last assignment was at Risala Institute in Atlanta as a Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher. Amani holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of New Orleans. In addition, Ms. Jabbar has also taken courses in Education and Child Psychology. She is currently a thesis candidate at Mercy College, where she will soon receive a Master's degree in English Language and Literature, inshAllah. Ms. Jabbar is also a wife and the mother of 2 young children.

 

Safia Zorba Subject Teacher

Safia is a graduate of Damascus University with a degree from the college of Shariah. Safia has taught Islamic Studies at various Damascus public schools as well as basic foundations of the Arabic language along with Quran reading and memorization to Muslim children of various age groups within the Atlanta community. Safia has been teaching Qur'an reading, memorization and tafseer to multiple grades at ILM since 2009, using a variety of effective, innovative approaches involving technology and multi-media, for which she was recognized by field experts. Safia also teaches Qur'an at ILM Academy's After School Program.

 

Suad Abdel Ghafoor Subject Teacher

Suad holds Bachelors degrees in Arabic Literature and Agricultural Engineering from Baghdad University. She has 19 years of experience teaching Arabic to elementary, middle and high school students at various schools in Baghdad, including a school for gifted girls. In addition she has taught Arabic as a Second language (ASL) for two years in Jordan before moving to the United States where she has been employed with ILM Academy since 2009. At ILM, Suad is continuing her professional development in acquiring and implementing the latest methodologies in second language acquisition.

 

Nisreen Mashayekh Subject Teacher

Nisreen holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Mercer University, as well as a diploma in Computer Information Systems from Interactive College of Technology. Nisreen has received a specialized Certificate from Georgia Perimeter College in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). Nisreen joins us with five years of educational experience. Her teaching career began at Dar Bader School in Lawrenceville. She has also taught at Clayton State University. Nisreen believes in providing a supportive environment for the developing needs of Muslim children throughout their Arabic educational experience.

 

Khadija Taufique Subject Teacher

Khadija Taufique is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University. Khadija has held several positions in the field of education. Most recently, she was trained in Junior Kumon Instruction at the Kumon Learning Center; an experience that instilled her with unique skills and effective classroom strategies. Khadija taught a variety of students, from fourth graders to high school students, in the Sunday school program at her local masjid. She was then nominated to write the Sunday school curriculum for the next two years. Khadija has been and continues to be an active participant in community youth initiatives. During her high school years, Khadija took part in the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament (MIST), a regional tournament that brings Muslim youth together to compete in areas of religious and secular knowledge, the arts, and sports. Participating in MIST fueled Khadija's desire to reach out to Muslim youth and get them involved in the Muslim community. For this reason, Khadija became the Competitions Chair for the Southeast Region upon entering college and has helped organize five MIST tournaments alhamdulilah.  Khadija is a devoted student of the Al Maghrib and Bayyinah Institutes, and has received a certificate of completion from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. Khadija harbors a passion for not only teaching children, but inspiring and motivating them to attain higher levels of success.  Khadija’s mission is to educate children so that they can compete with the brightest of their generation, as well as lay their foundation in Islamic principles so that they are successful in the aakhira.
